This is my second Yarn Along update post for Ginny Sheller’s Wednesday Yarn Along. I really was hoping to write about the new Mystery Knit Along that I joined on Ravelry that is also an RPG, but my mail-ordered yarn isn’t here yet so I’ve not had a chance to actually start knitting it…
wait, did I say a MKAL that’s also an RPG?
Oh ya, it’s true. The geek in me is ecstatic. I guess I’ll talk about it more next week (if I can wait that long). For now, suffice it to say that it’s a Ravelry KAL from Epic Knits called Heroes of Yarnia — Yarn Quest 2017. Link here: Tania Richter’s Yarn Quest
Who would’ve thought that knitting and role playing could mesh?
This girl is having FUN!
But now for the real project. Shujin’s birthday is two weeks away, and I’ve decided to knit a pair of socks for him. I’m using another Knit Picks yarn called Stroll Tonal, in the Deep Waters colorway. It’s actually a very pretty blend of blues, but it looks much darker in this picture. I just cast on last night and haven’t had time to do more than a couple of rows. The pattern is another Ravelry freebie, this time by Kelly Patla called Thermal Textured Socks. Shujin wouldn’t wear anything too fancy, but I couldn’t just knit a plain old sock!
I’ve put Alan Watts down for a short while and am reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. I started this after reading some great reviews on Goodreads. I’m always looking for another fantasy series that will equal, er, I mean come close to, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, and this one had enough positive comments to at least give it a try. I’m only a couple of chapters into it and the story is pretty good so far.
